The Industrial Heritage Park 'De Hoop' participates in national and regional activities of a recreational and educational nature, and schools, businesses and societies can benefit from these by incorporating a visit to the heritage park in their leisure activities. The park is the start and finish for the National Cycling Day Event which is organised every spring and during the National Museum Week-end and Monument Day's special exhibitions are organised; for example, from time to time special demonstrations and workshops are arranged in the 'De Juffer' carpenter's shop, volunteers can explain what is going on and, if asked, they can demonstrate the invention of the saw mill by Cornelis Corneliszoon van Uitgeest.
The 'Lange Meer Erfgoedroute' (The Long Lake Heritage Tour) has been designed for walkers and cyclists. It is a tour of 35 kilometres, with the start and finish at the heritage park. The route leads along the fortresses of the Position of Amsterdam, through villages and hamlets, via 3 small ferry-boats crossing small canals and waterways, along quiet country-roads and dykes from which the special North-Holland polder landscape can be admired. Route maps and route description are for sale in the heritage park.
